Mother Nature To Issue Temperature Beatdown To Area In 3 Stages

Well it seems this spring we are just not destined to keep the mild weather around long once it arrives. Between this evening and Sunday we will experience NOT 1, NOT 2, BUT 3! cold fronts passing across the region, resulting in progressively cooler temperatures and threats for rain. The first front, arriving this evening will produce areas of rain, showers, and the threat for a t-storm this afternoon and evening, with any rain ending before midnight. The second front arrives Saturday evening. It should be fairly nice for a while Saturday, although clouds will increase by afternoon. Areas of showers and the chance for thunder arrives in the late afternoon or evening. Sunday will be an unstable day with cloudy intervals, breezy conditions, and the chance for a passing shower. Temperatures tonight will drop into the 50's. Highs Saturday will be comfortable - 68-75. Lows drop into the 40's-low 50's Saturday night and Sunday's highs will try to reach 60-65 across populated, low elevations but hold in the 50's across higher elevations and it will be breezy. Monday looks mostly sunny with temperatures similar to Sunday. Early morning lows Monday will be in the 30's in many areas! Happy Spring!

The NAM model forecast for 8 PM this evening is shown below. Notice the two areas of energy aloft (circled in black on the upper-left panel). The closer area will enhance the threat for a thunderstorm in parts of the region this evening and the area further back will be over us Sunday, producing unstable conditions, cool temperatures, and the chance for a passing shower.
