A Taste of Winter Approacheth

A cold front will pass across the region late Saturday night, bringing an abrupt end to the pleasant Fall weather we have been enjoying. Nice weather will continue through today and into Saturday. We will probably see some clouds begin to appear during the course of Saturday afternoon, as the front approaches. Highs Saturday will reach the upper 50's to 60 degrees in many places. Showers/rain will move into the region toward and after midnight (Saturday night). As temperatures drop through the 40's, and in some cases (higher elevations) the 30's, the rain & showers will mix with and change to snow in parts of the area. While the population centers probably won't see any accumulation to speak of, a coating to an inch or two may accumulate in the parts of the northwest hills of CT and perhaps a bit more in the Berkshires by Sunday morning. You will know when the cold front has passed over you late Saturday night (if you're awake) because the wind will pick up noticeably out of the northwest.

Temperatures will tend to be steady or even fall during Sunday, with readings in the upper 30's-mid 40's, however it will feel about 10 degrees colder because of the gusty, northwest wind. It looks like there will continue to be intervals of snow or snow showers across the higher elevations across New England and upstate NY Sunday, Sunday night, Monday, and perhaps even on Tuesday. There will likely be some additional accumulation in some of the northwest hills of CT, several inches in the Berkshires, and the potential for 6"-12", with locally higher amounts in parts of northern New England and far upstate NY through Tuesday. Lows will be in the upper 20's-low 30's Sunday night, but with the persistent wind it will still feel 10 degrees colder. Highs will hold between 37-45 Monday & Tuesday. The wind will ease up Wednesday. The next weather maker may bring rain to parts of the region before the end of the day Thursday (Thanksgiving).
