Snow For The Thursday A.M. Drive
A fast moving low pressure system will slide out to the south of our area Thursday morning, brushing the region with light snow. The snow will begin during the predawn hours and end in most places by 8 AM-9 AM. I think the high resolution NAM model has a pretty good feel for the snow amount distribution (pictured above). The snow-to-liquid ratio is likely to be higher than the 10-to-1 ratio the model uses (i.e. the snow will be fluffy & light), however the amount of precipitation is small enough that this only translates into an extra fraction of an inch. Looks like a coating to an inch across interior CT and areas north of Poughkeepsie, NY, 1.0"-2.0" along the CT coast, and 2.0"-3.0" on Long Island.
