Snow Likely Thursday

Above: ECMWF model forecast for 1 PM Thursday. (Surface pressure & precipitation during previous 6 hours).

At this time I'm thinking snow accumulations Thursday in CT will be between 2"-6", with the higher amounts most likely in parts of eastern CT. A slight change in the projected track of the storm will change these amounts considerably (up OR down). The snow will start late Wednesday night (predawn Thursday) and continue through the day Thursday. It will also be windy, causing areas of blowing snow. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect across RI and parts of eastern MA, which will be closer to the storm's center and have a better chance of seeing 6"+ of snow. After the storm lifts to our north, windy, bitter Arctic cold is in Friday & Saturday. That next blast of Arctic air looks at least as cold as anything we've seen so far this season.
