Snow Saturday Night?

Above: Top: GEM (Canadian) Ensemble mean forecast for 1 AM Sunday.

Bottom: SREF (Short Range Ensemble Mean) forecast for 1 AM Sunday.

Mild weather today & next week will sandwich a brief period of cold and possible snow this weekend.

  1. Moisture trapped in the lowest level of the atmosphere will probably keep skies mostly cloudy today, however a few breaks, or some brightening may occur. Highs 50-55 despite the clouds.

  2. Some rain develops tonight after 9 PM. Lows hold in the 40's.

  3. A few lingering showers during the first half of Friday. After a cold front passes it will become windy & colder in the afternoon as some clearing begins. Early high around 50 or so, but temps fall through the 40's during the day, possibly into the 30's in northern areas before the end of the day. Northwest wind may gust to 40+ mph in the afternoon.

  4. Sun mixing with clouds Saturday. Highs in the 30's.

  5. Chance for snow Saturday night, ending early Sunday. Potential for 2"-6", however change to rain/mix could keep amounts down - especially near coast. This system doesn't exist today and won't exist tomorrow. It is still the figment of a computer's imagination so don't be surprised if snow estimates change.

  6. Temps should reach the 40's Sunday & Monday and could crack 60 Tuesday.
