Winter is Antsy to Get Started

You're probably not going to be worrying too much about global warming this week. The week will have a winter feel to it much of the time. We are starting today with a clear sky and temperatures in the 20's. Some clouds will be mixing in by lunchtime & this afternoon. Highs today in the upper 40's. Clouds thicken tonight with rain developing late (probably within an hour of midnight across most of the state). Cold enough for a mix with wet snow in the Berkshires. The rain will become moderate to heavy at times by Tuesday morning and it looks like 0.75"-1.5" of rainfall by the time it tapers off lunchtime Tuesday/early Tuesday afternoon. Some partial clearing follows and a northwest breeze develops Tuesday afternoon. Morning highs in the 50's south & east of Hartford, 40's north & west. Tuesday night will be breezy & cold with lows in the mid-upper 20's, to about 30 along the coast.

After a breezy & cold, dry day Wednesday, with highs only 35-40, another storm moving up from the south will be ready to bring precipitation back into the area Thursday afternoon. Based on the current track of Thursday's system, it looks like it will be cold enough for the precipitation to begin as snow. A small accumulation is possible before the precipitation changes to rain by Thursday night, however that will depend on the exact storm track, which can't be pinpointed yet. Significant rainfall seems likely Thursday night into Friday morning. Cold weather will continue during Friday & the weekend.
