Latest Thinking on the Weekend Storm
This morning's weak system is unimpressive. A coating of snow has accumulated in portions of western & southern CT, but most of the state will end up with less than an inch and some places will have little or no accumulation.
Weekend storm: Snow begins any time after 6 or 7 P.M. Snow changes to sleet and/or freezing rain along the coast around or after midnight and across most of CT by 5-6 A.M. Sunday (might still be snowing in northwestern Litchfield County).
Precipitation tapers off during Sunday afternoon, possibly switching to some light snow before ending. Accumulations 6"-12" north of I-84, 3"-6" south of I-84. North & west of Chicopee, Mass. more than a foot possible due to less or no mixing.
Biggest threat for icing from freezing rain looks to be across portions of southern & eastern CT. although that could shift slightly based on latest storm track.
Gusty northwest wind and plunging temperatures Sunday night into Monday morning, with temps falling to 0 and wind chills falling to -15 to -25. We'll be lucky if the HIGH temperature during the day Monday reaches 10 degrees across the interior.
