New Year - same weather.  Expect bitter cold when midnight arrives New Year's Eve.  Expect a nearly full moon, scattered clouds, and sub-zero wind-chills.  Below are the conditions I expect at midnight.  Keep in mind that wind-chill values are calculated with the sustained wind.  Gusts will feel worse.

Threw this map together quick, so take it with a grain of salt, but it gives you the general idea what snow amounts are looking like Sunday night into Christmas morning.  Looks like mixing with sleet & rain will keep amounts down to the south & east.  A slight change in the track of the surface low will cause these amounts to change between now & Monday morning.

Ice continues to accrete on untreated surfaces this morning.  Freezing rain will eventually change to plain rain during the day, however it may take until this afternoon for that to happen in some of the northern Valley locations.  Temperatures will stay in the 30's much of the day in CT, then pop up into the 40's and in some places...
